What Trailer Do I Need to Haul a Skid Steer?

Don't choose a skid-steer trailer based on the machine's weight alone.

You need to consider weight, width, attachments, loading and your tow vehicle.

Start With Your Skid Steer

Know the manufacturer's operating weight for your specific machine.

Then account for anything else you're hauling, including:

  • Bucket
  • Forks
  • Grapples
  • Augers
  • Other attachments

Attachments add both weight and length.

Check the Trailer's Payload

Don't simply look at GVWR.

The trailer itself counts toward GVWR, so check its actual payload capacity and make sure it can handle your machine and attachments.

Make Sure It Fits

Check the machine's width and overall length against the trailer's usable deck.

Also think about where attachments will go and whether the machine can be positioned correctly for proper weight distribution.

Ramps or Tilt?

Either can work, but think about how often you'll load and unload, your machine's ground clearance and the loading angle.

For someone loading equipment every day, convenience matters.

Don't Forget the Truck

The trailer may be perfect for the skid steer but too much for your tow vehicle once everything is loaded.

Check the applicable towing, payload and other ratings for your specific truck and towing setup.

Make It Easy

Send us your skid steer make and model and tell us what truck you're using, and we'll show you the equipment trailers that fit the job.
