Buying an equipment trailer? Don't choose based on deck length alone.
Start with the machine you're hauling.
Know Your Equipment
Before shopping, know:
- Weight
- Overall length
- Overall width
- Attachments you'll normally carry
A skid steer, mini excavator or tractor may fit on the deck but still be too heavy—or may need additional room for buckets and attachments.
Check the Trailer's Payload
The trailer's GVWR is not its payload capacity.
The trailer's own weight counts toward GVWR, so make sure the available payload comfortably handles your machine and anything else you're carrying.
Think About Loading
How will you get the equipment onto the trailer?
Consider:
- Ramps vs. tilt
- Loading angle
- Equipment ground clearance
- Deck width
- Fender clearance
The easiest trailer to load may not simply be the longest one.
Leave Room for How You Actually Work
If your machine barely fits today, what happens when you add a bucket, attachment or larger piece of equipment?
A little planning now can keep you from outgrowing the trailer quickly.
Bring Us the Machine Information
Tell us what equipment you're hauling, its weight and dimensions, and what truck you're using.
We'll help narrow down the trailer size and capacity you should be looking at.
